Are many of us really looking forward to winter? I do and I don't...mostly don't. However, year after year it shows up anyway right after fall.
Ah, fall. Last Friday my husband,, Jim and I took our Tritoon out for a cruise. We were headed to Sturgeon Creek Marina to have "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" detailed.*
Having been on Active Rain long enough to know that one goes nowhere, absolutely nowhere, without a camera I of course had mine.
A total of 217 pictures where taken during out five mile cruise. Wait a minute, how could that possibly happen. Well, all you need are the following:

Reflections in the Water Doubling the Spectacular Colors

and Images
Loads of Pretty Waterfront Homes
Absolutely Beautiful Blue Water

Boat Houses Galore Just Sitting Around Posing
An Ocassional Fellow Boater
and a Hubby that has the Patience Needed When Married to an Avid Amateur Photographer
plus
all the Time in the World to Leisurely Drift Along
and
a Camera with a Quick Shutter, Wide Angle Lens, and a Mighty Zoom**
Not one of these pictures was digitally enhanced in any way (no auto contrast, color saturation, sharpness tweaking or anything else) other than cropping. It was definitely a day made for anyone infatuated with photography.
Both of us were so pleased with the time we had and the natural beauty of Lake Anna.
There are many reasons Jim and I love living at Lake Anna. Hopefully these pictures will help to convey to you just what Lake Anna means to us each and every season.
Many people think it is the place to be in the summer. Well, you certainly can have lots of fun here than but the fun and good living extend well beyond the summer season.
Lake Anna is definitely a place for year round enjoyment. Come and see for yourself.
*The story, and there is a story, behind our "Unsinkable Molly Brown" will appear on here one of these days.
**AKA as my Panasonic DMC-FZ18 with its 18x optical zoom

Gorgeous pictures. Boy, to live on the lake- what a dream!
What wonderful photo's. I hope that you posted them to your localism site!
It looks like a beautiful lake - you're very lucky to be able to enjoy the day out on it. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I love the turning of the leaves. It's the thing I most miss. I do like the winters in Arizona though... I'm wearing short sleeves and it feels great.
Kate, your photos are just beautiful! Wow!
Kate, Lake Anna looks like a beautiful place....or is it just your expert photography? Either way, it looks like a terrific place to be - and like Jason, I too am jealous. Maybe you need to organize a AR gathering at your place.....
Hi Kate, I was just out at lake anna this weekend, working on a rental property we have...I love the lake, am looking for property on it. . :) see ya around.
I love the close up picture of the water.
What a beautiful area! I'm going to make it up there one of these days!
What a perfect day! And you have some really beautiful shots to boot! Thanks for sharing these :)
Kate-all beautiful photos! You are fortunate to have your own personal boat captain to enjoy the beautiful lake with.
Kate, I don't look forward to winter either but I loved being on that cruise with you--your photographs were just gorgeous, I felt like I was right there!
Gorgeous! Beautiful! Colors galore! Thanks for sharing your pics!
Hi Jason...I had a great time takng those pictures. I have plenty more. You'll have to make sure your visit is in the fall.
Kate
Hi Vickie...That's one more of the benefits here on the Rain. We get to learn a little more about other parts of the country. Thanks for your comment on my pictures.
Kate
Hi Paula...You would have enjoyed it just as we did. I wish everyone could have been with us. It was a peaceful and leisurely ride in a beautiful setting.
Kate
Hi Toni...That was our dream too. We realized it 16 years ago and it still seems like a dream.
Here's to your dream coming true too.
Kate
HI Michelle...Yes, I did post it to Localism. Thanks for suggesting that. I really need to write more posts for Localism.
Kate
Hi Georgina...There are so many beautiful places in the world and you certainly live in one. It has been exactly 30 years since we visited there but we can remember it very well. Of course Maui is unforgettable.
Kate
Hi Chuck...Enjoy your winters in Arizona. You can always "visit" fall when you want to. That's what I would say about winter when I lived in Puerto Rico.
Kate
Hi Pat...Thanks for the compliment. I love taking pictures and enjoy sharing.
Kate
You have taken some fine photos! I love the one of the water!!!
your friend in Charlottesville!
Kathleen, I love those pictures. It is a pity that I didnot have a chance to watch those beautiful leaves. I planned for the middle of October here but then I didnot have time.
Hi Jim...I'd be sorely tempted to have an AR gathering here if I really thought Jason would come.
It's definitely Lake Anna...not any expertise on my part.
Kate
Hi Konnie...Where is your rental?
You would really enjoy getting away down here. I've lived in Northern Virginia and the pace is much slower down here. Lots of peace and quiet but fun too.
Kate
Hi Justin...I like the photo of the water also. The depth of the color was amazing. It caught my eye while we moved along and I also like the peaks that were created by our wake.
Kate
Hi Carol...You're much closer to me now! Good!
Kate
Kate,
And we are very glad you had your camera---beautiful photos!
Gorgeous pictures Kate! It looks like it was a fabulous day...what a wonderful place to live.
Kate - How lovely. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos. Lake Anna is breathtaking.
Hi Jim & Maria...The weather was great, the company ideal, and the sights plentiful. It really was a perfect day.
Kate
Hi Cindy...Jim went from being an army colonel to being Kate's captain. He's not always sure whether that's a promotion or a demotion and I'm not telling.
Thanks for stopping by.
Kate
Hi Carole...I would have loved to have you with us. I would have enjoyed seeing you enjoy yourself. It was so peaceful, yet exciting.
Kate
Hi Sally...We certainly appreciate the beautiful colors each fall because we don't have them like you do all year long.
It always looks even more wonderful when we see the reflections in the lake.
Kate
Kate: Great photos! I love the one of the ripple in the water. Lake Anna looks gorgeous in the Fall.
Those photos are stunning! My favorite has to be the ripple. I love how you captured the sparkle of the day in those shots.
Hi Charles...That one seems to be getting the most votes!
I guess I haven't gotten over the campaign season, still thinking votes.
Kate
Hi Huiting...You must have had some beautiful color this fall also. I'm from Connecticut and know how beautiful New England autumns are.
Were you planning to come down to Virginia? If so, perhaps you'll make it next year. It is a beautiful state and I believe you would have a good time down here.
Kate
Hi Cynthia...Thanks so much.
Being without my camera is actually worse than being without my phone...and that's pretty bad.
Kate
Hi Joan...It was a fabulous day. You have plenty of them up in your part of New England.
I'm sure you many, many photo ops. I must confess I love the small towns in New England. There's some real charm there.
Kate
Hi Tom...I was so happy to have the chance to share these pictures with all of you. Lake Anna is like so many places in this beautiful country. We are very fortunate.
Kate
did you actually take all those beautiful pictures in one day. You may have to forego the 'amatuer' part of the avid photographer
I LOVE the picture of the water! That is sooooo cool!!! Kathy McGraw just started a cool group called Foto Share Shop for Bloggers You can use any pics there without fear of copyright laws. I posted a bunch of pics yesterday and also used some!
You had me ooohing and ahhhing on the first picture with the beautiful autumn colors on the trees. Absolutely gorgeous.
Kathleen, The photos are amazing, especially the water one. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the day.
Hi Chris...That seems to be the most popular photo. I just happened to look at the water, love the dark blue and also the formation of the water. So glad I took that shot along with 3-4 others that are pretty similar.
Do you ever get down here?
Kate
Hi Brenda...You are serving the great state of Wisconsin where Capt. Jim (otherwise know as my husband) hails from.
Another ripple compliment. Guess if I ever enter a photo contest around here I'll have to go with that one.
Thanks for checking out Virginia.
Kate
Hi James...I guess I have to watch what words I choose.
Seriously, I am very much an amateur. Strictly a shoot and point type.
I do love sharing my pictures though and feel good when others enjoy seeing them.
Thanks for reading and "looking".
Kate
Absolutely gorgeous pictures - In fact, they are breath-taking!
Wonderful photos and you are right we need to always have our camera handy because you just never know what you will see.
Hi Tami...I never would have known the water picture would be so popular. I liked but was a little hesitant about including it because I thought people would question why I posted it.
Thanks for the tip about Kathy's new group. I went and joined. Didn't add any photos yet nor have I taken any from there but may one of these days.
Kate
Hi Pam...The colors were fantastic that day. I loved the double dose too with the reflections in the water.
Kate
P.S. We've had some wind and rain since then and there aren't many leaves left on the trees. We were lucky we got out that day and I was able to take my pictures.
Hi Gary...We were very fortunate to have the time to take a very leisurely ride that afternoon. Otherwise I would not have gotten the 217 photos I took.
Another one for the water! Wonderful!
Kate
Hi Myrl...Your comment made me feel great. I love taking and sharing pictures.
Thanks so much.
Kate
Hi Martha...Once you start thinking in terms of taking pictures you begin to notice so much more. That makes it even more fun.
Thanks for commenting.
Kate, these are all breathe taking pictures. I am glad that I had the time to seem some of what you got to see.
Kate- I'm so thankful that AR has so many people willing to document the change of seasons... the changing of the colors- well, that's something I miss out on.
Hi Danny...I'm glad you did too. I love sharing and looking at others photos too.
Kate
Hi Chuck...I am too. It is great seeing pictures in different parts of the country as well as the different seasons.
Kate
The Unsinkable Molly Brown?! I love the name, Kate.
You've also outdone yourself with the photo's... they are just spectacular. With a good 8" of snow on the ground and temps dropping to -20 tonight Lake Anna looks especially good. :)
For Real Estate, you gotta call Kate! Thanks for sharing your gloious day with photos. Hubby looks really happy.
Hi Kate! Ameteur huh?! I think NOT! What beautiful photos of your area for Localism; glad you shared with us!
I do not like the cold at all! While I appreciate the stark beauty of bare trees and the serenity of snow covered landscapes, I do not like the cold at all! Your photos on the other hand are beautiful. I am a big fan of reflections in water.
Beautiful photos and thank you for calling me yesterday. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I'm sorry if I missed your milestone from missing your call.
