OH NO...I'M NOT GOING THERE AGAIN!

Oh no...I'm not going there again! A couple of nights ago I was up to my old tricks. It seems that without any prior planning I was setting myself up for a marathon night writing and commenting on Active Rain.

At some point I looked at my watch and it was 3:48 in the morning. I was wide awake. I was also in need of sleep because daylight was just around the corner and I needed to be up and awake. There were things that needed to be done. Could I really tell my clients I was too tired to handle their needs because I was caught up in relationships that I had established on the internet. What sites would they think I was visiting?

No. I realized I could not take that chance. I needed to get some sleep. I also needed to establish some boundaries.

No more time spent on Active Rain once Big Ben (at least our version of Big Ben) strikes midnight.

 Our Big Ben

OUR YUMMY BIG BEN*

Now knowing me there will be many mights I will have a hard time adhering to that rule but I remember too well many nights spent here until the wee hours of the morning. It got to the point that I pretty much over did it and the next thing you know I stopped blogging.

Great example of why moderation is a healthy thing. This time around I'm shooting for moderation so I can get the most out of the very best site on the internet for real estate professionals.

It is easy to get engrossed in ActiveRain or any other social site and lose track of time. Setting a deadline of midnight is very reasonable. "Experts" recommend we turn off all electronics at least an hour before going to bed so we can unwind for sleep. And...everything in moderation is spot on! We don't need to pace ourselves to keep from burning out.

Hi William...I envy you folks that are writing 'future' blogs. How do you find the time???

Hi Pat...Then I should shut down at 11:00. What would I do for that hour? I could pick up a book and start reading but then I risk being up too late again.

I do think shutting down the electronics is a good idea even though that means the TV also. I might wish you hadn't shared that information with me. I have a feeling I'll be sitting here talking to my two dogs for an hour every night. Help!

Cute Clock and a reminder of the time.  No more late nights.  It is easy to get caught up in the blogging but we do need our rest.  The clients will be calling at an early mornig hour.

Hi Rose Mary...Thanks. As I mentioned my daughter gave it to us and it has its very own spot on the kitchen wall. It actually needs new batteries (I wish I could get some for myself) if it is going to tell me the right time.

"Future Blogs" - Someone is actually writing future blogs?

Seriously, I've tried it a few times, but haven't had the greatest success at it!

Hi Myrl...I have all it takes to get 'present' blogs written and posted.

It's way past my usual bedtime too, almost quarter to cheesecake Kate. Why do I feel like a snack all of a sudden? Goodnight!

Good Saturday morning Kate. Amusing post. I have not had good luck with writing future posts.

Hi Kate,

Boundaries are a wonderful thing.  I often stay up too late as well. :)

Hi Kevin...That's a tasty clock, isn't it. Hope you got some sleep instead of a snack.

Hi Michael...Glad you enjoyed the post. I have drafts but when I look at them some are outdated and I need to just delete them. So much for having a stash of 'future' posts.

Hi Sonja...Being on the east coast sometimes is a disadvantage. It gets late here and west coast folks are still posting and I'm still reading and commenting. You're midway so I guess you get caught up in it too.

Oh my, Kate Elim so many of us can relate.  Yes, ActiveRain can be addictive and it is not easy to turn it OFF.  If I figure it out I will write a post.

Good luck reaching 500.000.
