I am constantly reminded of how important our yard signs are in my area. We are a smaller community around Lake Anna and often I have people, some I know and some when I meet them for the first time, tell me how often they see my signs around the lake. Yard signs are still gold in my neighborhood.
Recently I had some new signs made. Completely new design and I picked them up but have not had a chance to drive around changing out my signs. I'm having second thoughts about them. I'm not as excited about them as I thought I would be. However, here is what the new signs look like.

Now whose sign is that?
I was trying to achieve a design that would encourage a prospective buyer to contact me, therefore my web site and my cell phone number. The QR code is for my web site also. I always prepare "outdoor" flyers for houses and they are attached to the sign post. I will write about those in a separate post. I also do them for waterfront lots but generally do not for the access lots unless they have a water view.
I think it's back to the drawing board. My name can certainly be a bit smaller (I've never had a sign with my name so big before) and I would like my company logo to be larger. Using orange for my phone number is something I might consider.
I'll have to ask my friends for their advice. If anyone here would like to give me their opinion I would welcome it.
Meanwhile I will use these and am confident that I will still hear, "I see your signs everywhere." Those words are music to my ears.

Take out the R and the Fair Housing logo....the logo is no longer used and was originally designed and REQUIRED when there were conciliation agreements on a fair housing complaint against real estate licensees.
You are correct * you want the sign to look balanced and the writing to be visible
I think your new signs are great. Keep up the good work.
I think they are nice Kate though all one color does not make them stand out as much as maybe having a pop of color going on. Our broker and board has to approve ours so I have never ventured out to doing my own.
Kate,
I agree with Wallace. I would take off the logos and leave just your company logo.
If you go back to the table I would suggest picking up the colors in your logo for the writing. You have a pretty logo with good colors if you have the writing the same colors it will help make your logo and name stand out.
Just my 2 cents worth.
I remember having signs designed once and my Broker telling me my name couldn't be in larger print than the Broker name and the only number had to be the office number. We had to put our info on a rider. Glad those days are gone.
Hi Wallace...I will do as you suggest. I've become so accustomed to having the two other logos on my signs I didn't even think to remove them.
Thank you,
Kate
Hi Tiffany...Thank you for commenting.
Kate
Hi Martha...I agree. It wasn't until I saw them finished that I realized I had too much dark blue and black. The blue was supposed to be the same blue as the outer edge of Dockside's logo. That didn't happen.
I appreciate your input.
Kate
Hi Nona...I like our logo and would like to see it larger. I'm wondering if I have it larger whether I need to spell out Dockside Realty also. By decreasing the size of my name, phone #, and web site it would leave more room for the larger logo. I also wanted the blue lettering to be the same shade of the darker blue in the company logo. Think I'll toy with that.
Thanks for your suggestion. (By the way, it was worth more than 2 cents!) I like it and have been thinking about that ever since I picked these up from the sign place.
Kate
Hi Randy...I'm glad it's changed also although I think I may have overdone it with the size of my name and info. I might pull back some next time.
Kate
Yard signs are great. I'm noticing more and more mortgage professionals are doing them as well. Exposure is key.
Hi John...They certainly help. I have gotten a number of yard sign calls and it reminds people that know you but don't see you that often that you are still in the business.

I like the new sign design Kate. I do agree that while you want your name and contact info to stand out, a little downsizing of the font size would be visually pleasing. I like the idea of increasing the logo size a little. A splash of orange would really make it "pop". Good luck with your decisions!
Good morning, Kate....I like your sign....if you remove the logos, you can balance the QR code on one side with the dockside logo on the other....and then the sign reminds me of a well designed postcard....clean, easy to read and it will do the trick of making the phone ring....nice job.
Hi Yvonne...Thanks for your suggestions. I totally agree.
Kate
Hi Barbara...Next go around I'll do exactly that. Whatever it takes to get that phone to ring.
Kate
Kate we are required to have the company name more prominent that our own names. Don't know if that applies to your area or not.
Also, the QR Code and your own website name on the sign may be redundant.
As for simplicity, style and font type, I think it's perfect.
Hi Charita...Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.
The web site name can be jotted down by someone while the QR code is great for a person with a smart phone and the QR reader app. You just never know what is easiest for people.
I'm working onn a new website now and that's keeping me very busy.
