One ratified contract...two hugs. That was exactly what I received today. I have a listing that has been on the market for some time. I am the third agent to have the listing. Although the house is very nice it was priced too high when it first came on the market. Those things happen, especially when this one was first listed in May 2007.

I showed it more than once prior to getting the listing because I really like the house. I was happy when I received a call from the owner asking to meet with me. We met and completed a listing agreement. This was back in the fall. I held a broker's open which was successful and did considerable marketing. Real estate slows down often during the holidays so we took it off and put it back on in early March.
Finally, success. I began working with a couple that thought this would be the perfect home for them and their extended family. As I did not want to do dual agency one of the other agents met with them and wrote a contract.
We ratified the contract today. My owner was so happy and I was so happy for her. At one point she looked at me and said, "I must give you a hug." and so she did. When she finished initialing the last change she wanted to give me one more. I felt like a million dollars.
Now you know why I love real estate!

Hi Joan...Thank you so much, especially for the hugs. That is exactly right. How can yoou not love this profession when things like this happen, perhaps not every day but often enough to make me very happy.
Wishing you some more ratified contracts soon and lots of hugs.
Kate
Kate,
There is no payday that is better than a good hug from a happy client!
Congratulations!
Hi Mike...Exactly! I was so happy and I know she was also. Hopefully everything goes smoothly as we move towards settlement.
Thanks for the congrats!
Kate
Kate, third time is the charm! Hugs are the best, I agree. Congratulations on the ratified contract, and congratulations to your home owner for picking you!
I agree with you Kate. This makes it all worthwhile. Congratulations.
Kate, congratulations on a great ending. Good things come to those who wait.
Katie I can see why the homeowner wanted to give you a hug, a buyer after such a long time is music to the ear. Congrats!
Kate,
congratulations! Hugs are great. I get one at every closing unless its an REO...Investors aren't big on hugging:)
Hi Andrea...What a nice thing for you to say. I was so happy to get the listing because I liked the house and I liked the owner. That helps.
Kate
Hi Debra...Being happy with what we do is as important as being paid. Without the good feelings we wouldn't love what we do so much. Kate
Hi Kay...Well, we still have to get to settlement but Ali and I were both so happy and the hugs were so unexpected I had to share.
Kate
Hi Jennifer...It was a long wait with lots of reductions but along came some nice buyers who really fell for the house so it's finally working out for everyone.
Kate
Hi Karen...Yes, at closings but this was as we were going over the offer and that's why it was so much fun. The seller was happy and showed it. I felt wonderful.
Kate
Kate -- Great story. Congrats! That hug and heartfelt appreciation was worth more than any amount of money you will make, I am sure.
