Wondering What's New at Lake Anna?

Wondering what's new at Lake Anna?  Well today as I was coming around the bend on New Market Road heading for the 208 Bridge, I saw a huge crane and knew the skyscraper was in the making.

Yes, we are getting a full blown skyscraper at Lake Anna.  It will be all of two (2) stories high.  Yes, that's right, two stories high.  However, at Lake Anna that comes close to being a skyscraper.  Don't forget we're country out here.

Lake Anna's shoreline in this area is filled with waterfront homes and a couple of marinas and other businesses, all rather low vertical spaces.  Now that is about to change.  A new building is being constructed along the shore next to the bridge.  It will house some offices and a couple of restaurants.

Lake Anna Island Shops will provide space for a Health Club/Spa, Yacht Club, real estate office, retail shops, a couple of restaurants, and offices.  This is certainly a testament to the growth at Lake Anna.

What is especially wonderful, in my eyes, is the fact that with these changes Lake Anna will still remain the place that drew so many of us to it.  It is still country.  It retains its rural feel even now when more commercial establishments are being constructed. Another change on the horizon is the Food Lion (more in a future post) which will be the first large supermarket here at the lake.  We have been fortunate through the years to have several convenience type stores providing us with handy places to pick up necessities as well as treats.

Some have waited for the amenities that are now on the horizon. Others have been quite content with the status quo. Even those that have thoroughly enjoyed their time here without a large supermarket and some other signs of civilization will certainly make good use of them.

In many ways folks have found a slower way of life to be exactly what they love about Lake Anna. If it takes time for things to happen, it simply takes time. Fortunately we use that time to enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle and the realization that we do not need everything at our fingertips.  Yes, many of us have lived in suburban and even urban areas. Adapting to Lake Anna has been easy for almost everyone I've every met.

Lake Anna is a place to wind down but that does not mean you have to stand still. There are so many water related activities to do and many groups to join that it can become a challenge to find the time for everything.

If you have thought of Lake Anna as a place for you I'll be happy to help you find out for sure.

It is great that a lot of thought and planning went into this so that the country will still be in tact.  You will have to keep us informed with photos as things progress.
