A Host of May Activities at Lake Anna State Park

For those of us within an easy commute of Lake Anna State Park it is wonderful to have the opportunity to visit and take part in a number of activities that are both fun and educational.

(For those of you who live too far away for a day trip come back as I'll be writing a post soon about the great camping facilities at the park and the cabins you can rent.)

If you have not done so as yet, take advantage of this great resource and plan to spend some time in this beautiful natural setting.

Kate--all these activities remind me of many years spent camping at Cook Forest in PA.  My daughter & her cousins and their families still meet every summer for week or 10 days.  Us from the older generation visit for a day or two.  I am glad that my mother lives within 30 miles so I can camp at her house with soft bed and warm shower.  Campfires and smores, hmm good.  Thanks for the memories.

Kate, what a great selection of activities. I would try my hand at panning for gold I would think. I might get lucky and retire!! Then I'd have to spend all my time out on the lake with YOU!!

Wow!  Sounds like a whole host of neat things going on!  Hubby just looked it up - it's 231 miles from me to you.  That's not all that bad, ya know ....    ;)

Hey Kathleen,

Where is Lake Anna State Park?  The events you listed sound like fun and the prices are reasonable :)

Thanks for the info,

Kate-  what a great line up of events.  This sound like a lot of fun and lots to do... I panned for gold in Calif... obviously it did not lead to my early retirement, but it was a lot of fun.

Sounds like a ton of fun Kate.  Looks like the community is really geared to building a strong relationship with the members.

Hi Mary...Next time think about staying longer.  You might be glad you did.  Take time to spend with your mom and do some camping too.  Live it up!

Hi Gary...That's right!  I'm sure you'd love it.

Come to think of it, I haven't tried my hand at gold panning.  I keep thinking of taking some of the grandchildren up there one day.

Hi Carol...Exactly.  I wasn't sure how far away you are but I figured it couldn't be too far.  We should split the difference some time and meet for lunch and the afternoon of photography.

How does that sound?

Hi Laura...Lake Anna is located in Central Virginia, not too far from Washington, D.C., Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, and Richmond.  At least we say not that far as we've gotten use to jumping in the car and going.

It's pretty rural out around here with the lake being the center of most activities.

Thanks for asking.  Please say hi to your mom for me.

Hi Joan...I'll never have an "early" retirement, not at 72 but than again I don't want one either.

We are lucky to have such a wide variety of programs for adults and children so close to us.
