Fortunately for all of us living in and near Louisa County, the Farmers' Market is back again. A wonderful harbinger of good things to come, the market opened on Saturday, April 11. (I was in Connecticut so did not get to the opening.)
As usual, the market will be suppyling us with home grown fresh vegetables and delectable fruit as well as plants, flowers, and a number of other items.
One of these Saturdays I'll get over to the Triangle Shopping Center in the town of Louisa and take pictures of the variety of items offered. Until then be sure to get over there yourself to take advantage of this opportunity to support our local farmers and in the process benefiting by having fresh, delicious items close at hand.
Hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon. Hope to see you there.

Kate,
Wow! Already? Ours is not open yet but I think it opens the end of the month, I can't wait!
This is great. It does seem a bit early to be open. While a few of the smaller farmer's markets have opened in the Knoxville area, the larger ones won't open for about a month. The Knoxville Feed and Seed does however have a great selection of vegetable plants available now! I will hopefully be planting this weekend; onions, carrots, peanuts, and potatoes are already in the ground! Will you have your owne garden this year?
Hi Cynthia...I might try to get over there Saturday morning although I am planning to lunch with some friends that day in Fredericksburg and that's the opposite direction.
There sure can't be many fruits and vegetables yet but perhaps there will be a lot of plants as well as gams and other canned products.

Hi Rich...No garden for us. We even have our grass cut.
Our neighbors have a very large, productive one. Great veggies and beautiful flowers! I know you have the same.
Jim and I take our responsibility to support the local farmers very seriously...therefore, we do not compete we simply buy. (Lots less work too!)

Occoquan opens this weekend in honor of Earth Day. Looking forward to it!
Kate - I can't wait to bite into all the various types of fresh fruits. Your area really start early.
Hi Pat...Occoquan is such a beautiful spot. I'd encourage anyone in the area to go check it out.
What a great way to honor Earth Day.
