When I think of small towns along the east coast this is part of the vision that I conjour up.  Fredericksburg fits the bill perfectly.  It has a number of streets that are meant to stroll down enabling you to get a good look at the porches, picket fences, gardens, and homes filled with character.  These are the type streets that I like to walk with a camera in hand.  The photo opportunities are endless.

If you are looking for a fun way to celebrate Earth Day, plan to spend it at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg.  Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul, & Mary fame will be performing there at 7 p.m. on April 22.  Simply bring a blanket so you'll have a place to sit.

Did I mention this is FREE?

Can you think of a better way to enjoy Earth Day than by listening to some great songs from the 1960s.  Hopefully Paul will play some of the groups best known hits such as "Early Mornin' Rain" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane".

I cannot wait to share this news with my 15 year old grandson. He has discovered a passion for the guitar and to our joy has developed a real talent for it.  Reese loves many of the songs, and groups, from the 1960s and 70s.

The performance will take place in Kalnen Court outside the Eagles Nest on the University's campus.  You will probably need to get there pretty early as I imagine there will be quite a crowd.

Oh, oh.  There's been a little mischief going on here at home.  Thank goodness I have just the place to go to replace my ornament.  I will just take a quick drive down to 1021 Caroline Street to Old Town Fredericksburg where I'll run into Whittingham's and then.........................well, it will not be that easy.  After all there are so many ornaments to choose from even now. 

So if you are looking for the perfect decoration for your home, an unusual ornament for your tree or a unique gift for the special ones in your life, follow me to Whittingham's.  You will  delight in the choices you have.  I suppose I must warn you.  Allow enough time as this is one store it is very hard to simply walk in and back out. 

One more thing, before walking through that door take a good long look at the display in the window.  Whittingham is known throughout the area for its creative displays.  This year's will delight you.  Especially if you enjoy the antics of these mischiveous mice.
