Are You a Minimum or a Plus REALTOR®?

Curiosity has me asking that question.  Having read Jessica Horton's post, Exegesis of the NAR Code of Ethics. Introduction, from 5/13/2008* I began to wonder the following:Realtor® Logo

  1. How frequently must you renew your real estate license?

  2. How many continuing education credits are required in your state in order to renew your license?

  3. How many credits do you generally earn?

  4. Is it difficult finding the time to take CE classes?

  5. Do you believe the classes are worthwhile?

  6. If so, why?  And if not, why not?

  7. What material do you feel should be required?

  8. Is too much time spent on the Code of Ethics?  Not enough?

  9. Do you prefer classroom or online instruction?

  10. In what state do you practice real estate?

It may be interesting to see the answers to these questions.  Hopefully you will share yours with us.

Virginia now requires 16 hours of continuing education in order to renew. Licenses are renewed every two yearsHowever, new salespersons licensed on or after July 1, 2008, must complete 30 hours of Post License Education within one year of their license issue date.  Courses may be taken in class or online.

I like the convenience of online but enjoy the interaction with others in class so that is how I generally take all or most of mine.  Although I am required to take 16 I often end up with many more, sometimes twice the required number.  Right now I have 29 credits and do not have to renew my license until August 31, 2012.  I like taking classes!

*Yes, I know that was some time ago but it feels like yesterday.
