ONE Ratified Contract...TWO Hugs. Now That's Success!

One ratified contract...two hugs. That was exactly what I received today. I have a listing that has been on the market for some time. I am the third agent to have the listing.  Although the house is very nice it was priced too high when it first came on the market.  Those things happen, especially when this one was first listed in May 2007.

Ali's House - photos by Kate Elim, Lake Anna, VA

I showed it more than once prior to getting the listing because I really like the house.  I was happy when I received a call from the owner asking to meet with me.  We met and completed a listing agreement.  This was back in the fall.  I held a broker's open which was successful and did considerable marketing. Real estate slows down often during the holidays so we took it off and put it back on in early March.

Finally, success.  I began working with a couple that thought this would be the perfect home for them and their extended family.  As I did not want to do dual agency one of the other agents met with them and wrote a contract.

We ratified the contract today.  My owner was so happy and I was so happy for her.  At one point she looked at me and said, "I must give you a hug." and so she did.  When she finished initialing the last change she wanted to give me one more.  I felt like a million dollars.

Now you know why I love real estate!

Golden Sunset at Lake Anna, Virginia

I'm in love with sunsets.  I cannot seem to get over the beauty of them.  Although I have tons of pictures of the sun going down, I still take more.  I delight in the fact that we see some truly gorgeous ones.  The fact that the setting sun, and the wonderful hues it creates in the sky, are often reflected in the water.  That doubles my pleasure.

Rainy Days Can Be Fun Days at Lake Anna

While some of us may think of rainy days as days to snuggle up on the couch and read a book, others say this is a good time to be out fishing.

Those of us at Lake Anna are no different.  Some of us do not venture out on those drizzely days unless it is absolutely necessary.  However, we too have our exceptions.

Fishermen at Lake AnnaA couple of days ago I was out doing some real estate related tasks.  It was not the prettiest day as we were having more of the rain we need to keep our lake filled to the brim.

As I was passing over one of Lake Anna's bridges I noticed a couple of men fishing.  This is a common sight on bright, sunny days as well as on  cloudy, rainy days.

This time I decided to take some shots.  It is very possible that many people thinkof Lake Anna, and having a good time down here, when the weather is warm and sunny.  That may be true for some but believe me, there are many others that find this is the opportune time to getting some productive fishing in.

Not only do the fish seem to be biting when the weather is like this, it is also a time that you are not sharing the lake with water skiers, jet skis, and all the other assorted boaters typically out there on sunny days.

I thought you might like to see that some are not only taking advantage of this type of weather but actually enjoying themselves.  How about getting out there and having some fun?
